From 2009, I often visited my indian friend in Gujarat, India.

My friend, Bharat Rao and his family just started to build their house then in small town called Kalol.  I often came back there and to keep on recording how the building proceed.

On 2013, the building was completed and Rao family started to live there. I was there to take photographs of their lifestyle and I heard that Kruti, a daughter of the family, was going to get married in Dec 2013.

I made a promise that I would come back to India to attend her wedding, as a member of the family.

These photos are fruits of that relationship.

ひょんなことから、インドに通うようになった。

2009年から、1年に数回。訪れるのはいつも決まってグジャラート州カロール。

そして決まってラオさんという友人一家の家に泊めてもらう。

2009年に初めてここを訪れたとき、バーラット・ラオは家族のために一軒の家を建てようとしていた。

僕はちょうどその新しい家の着工式、というかヒンドゥ教の地鎮祭に出くわし、わけもわからず出席させてもらった。

それから僕のインド行脚がはじまり、この家が出来上がっていくさまを着実に写真に記録していった。

2011年暮れには、ほぼ完成した新しい家で「バストゥ・プジャン」という落成式を1週間かけてやった。

2013年初頭には立派な完成した家で暮らしている家族を撮影した。これでこの家族の撮影も終わりだろう、と思いながら。

その滞在中に、翌2014年にクルッティ、ラオ家の長女が結婚する予定だという話を聞いた。相手はウガンダ育ちのインド人実業家の好青年。

クルッティとは2014年12月の結婚式の出席を約束し、僕は約束通り結婚式の6日前にインドに渡った。

結婚式はもろもろ含めて7日間ぶっ続けで行われ、これでこの家族の撮影も終わりだろう、と思いながら僕は写真を撮っていた。
